5. IS THERE AN OPTION FOR A SINGLE CASH PAYMENT INSTEAD OF AN ANNUITY?

Yes. For the top prize, instead of an annuity payment, the winner may choose a single lump sum total of $7 million. For the second prize of $25,000 a year for life, the winner may choose a single lump sum total of $500,000.

6. WHAT FIELD IS USED TO CHOOSE WINNING NUMBERS?

There are two fields of numbers on DAILY GRAND. Five main numbers from 1 to 49 are chosen and one GRAND NUMBER, from 1 to 7, is chosen.

7. WHAT IS THE GRAND NUMBER?

DAILY GRAND is played with two separate fields of winning numbers. The first five main numbers are chosen from 1 to 49, and one number, the GRAND NUMBER, is chosen from a field of 1 to 7. The GRAND NUMBER is used to add more prize categories to the prize structure. There are nine prize categories in total. The GRAND NUMBER can be used to win prizes even if the player hasn’t matched any main numbers. The GRAND NUMBER can be used if matched to a prize with 1, 2, 3, 4 and 5 main numbers.

8. COULD THE SAME NUMBER APPEAR AS ONE OF THE MAIN NUMBERS AND AS THE GRAND NUMBER?

Yes. If one or more of the five main numbers is from 1 to 7, it’s possible that the same number could be drawn as the GRAND NUMBER.

9. CAN THE GRAND NUMBER BE USED IN PLACE OF ONE OF THE FIVE MAIN NUMBERS?

No. The five main numbers can only be matched to the five main numbers on a DAILY GRAND ticket and the GRAND NUMBER can only be matched to the GRAND NUMBER on the ticket.

10. HOW LATE CAN I BUY A TICKET BEFORE A DRAW?

Tickets can be purchased until 10:30 p.m. the day of the draw.

11. CAN I USE QUICK PICK?

Yes. Quick Pick is available for DAILY GRAND.

12. CAN I PLAY MORE THAN ONE SELECTION?

Yes. When playing with Quick Pick you can have up to 10 selections. If you choose your own numbers you can choose up to four selections on the selection slip.

14. IS ENCORE AVAILABLE WITH DAILY GRAND?

15. IS COMBINATION PLAY AVAILABLE WITH DAILY GRAND?

Yes. Combination Play for DAILY GRAND includes seven sets of numbers for a total cost of $21. You choose your five main numbers, and each set will include one of the possible GRAND NUMBERs, 1 through 7. Since matching a GRAND NUMBER always wins at least a Free Play, a Combination Play is guaranteed to win.

16. CAN I BUY TICKETS FOR DAILY GRAND ON PLAYOLG.CA?

DAILY GRAND will not be available on PlayOLG.ca at launch, but may be available in the future.

17. IS THERE A QUICKPICK PACK THAT INCLUDES DAILY GRAND?

Yes. You can buy a QUICKPICK PACK that includes one (1) DAILY GRAND play, two (2) LOTTO 6/49 plays and (1) ENCORE (LOTTO 6/49) play for a total price of $10.

18. HOW LONG DO THE ANNUITY PAYMENTS LAST ON THE TOP TWO PRIZE CATEGORIES?

The annuity prizes on DAILY GRAND are intended as true “for life” prizes, lasting for the entire life of the winner. There is no set maximum on the length of the payments.

19. ARE THERE TIMES A WINNER OF ONE OF THE TOP TWO PRIZES CANNOT SELECT THE ANNUITY OPTION?

Yes. There are times when a top prize or second prize winner may have to take the cash option instead of the annuity. These include situations such as: the winner is not a resident of Canada, the winning ticket is owned by more than one person or there are multiple winning tickets for an annuity prize.

20. WHAT HAPPENS IF MORE THAN ONE SELECTION WINS THE TOP OR SECOND PRIZE ON A DRAW?

The annuity option won’t be available to multiple winners. Instead, the winning selections equally share the cash prize, $7 million for the top prize category and $500,000 for the second prize category. For example, if there are two winning selections in the top category, each will be entitled to $3.5 million. If there are two winning selections in the second category, each will be entitled to $250,000.

21. HOW LONG DO WINNERS IN THE TOP TWO CATEGORIES HAVE TO DECIDE IF THEY WANT TO TAKE THE ANNUITY OR SINGLE PAYMENT OPTIONS?

Claimants will have 60 days from the time they present their prize claim to decide whether to choose the annuity or single payment option. We encourage those claimants to seek independent financial advice to help make that decision. DAILY GRAND winners have one year from the draw date in which to present their ticket for claim.

22. HOW WILL DAILY GRAND NUMBERS BE CHOSEN? HOW SECURE ARE THE RANDOM NUMBER GENERATOR DRAWS? HOW DO YOU ENSURE THEIR RANDOMNESS?

DAILY GRAND draws will be made with a computerized draw system that uses a random number generator (RNG). The draws are secure and as unpredictable as draws made by a ball-drop. Regardless of the draw method, all lottery draws are audited both internally and externally. There are a number of checks and balances that are overseen by third-party experts. These include on-site auditors for draws and third-party certification experts who verify the equipment used. RNG machines are kept inside a safe in a controlled room. Draw machines have no external ports or drives that would allow new software to be introduced. Draw machines are designed to signal any modification to any component of the system that has an influence on the outcome.
