6. WHAT FIELD IS USED TO CHOOSE WINNING NUMBERS?

There are two fields of numbers for DAILY GRAND. The five main numbers are chosen from a field of 1 to 49 and one GRAND NUMBER is chosen from a field of 1 to 7.

7. WHAT IS THE GRAND NUMBER?

The winning GRAND NUMBER is chosen from a field of 1 to 7 in addition to the five main DAILY GRAND winning numbers. When a player matches the GRAND NUMBER as well as any of the main numbers they win the corresponding prize. There is even a prize for matching only the GRAND NUMBER! A player must match all five main numbers and the GRAND NUMBER to win the DAILY GRAND top prize. The GRAND NUMBER selection on your ticket is listed with a “GN” beside it.

8. COULD THE SAME NUMBER APPEAR AS ONE OF THE MAIN NUMBERS AND AS THE GRAND NUMBER?

Yes. If one or more of the five main numbers is from 1 to 7, it’s possible that the same number could also be drawn as the GRAND NUMBER.

9. CAN THE GRAND NUMBER BE USED IN PLACE OF ONE OF THE FIVE MAIN NUMBERS?

17. HOW LONG DO THE ANNUITY PAYMENTS FOR THE TOP TWO PRIZE CATEGORIES LAST?

The annuity prizes for DAILY GRAND are intended as true “for life” prizes, lasting for the entire life of the winner. There is no set maximum on the length of the payments.

18. ARE THERE TIMES A WINNER OF ONE OF THE TOP TWO PRIZES CANNOT SELECT THE ANNUITY OPTION?

Yes. There are times when a top prize or second prize winner may have to take the cash option instead of the annuity. These include situations such as: the winner is not a resident of Canada, the winning ticket is owned by more than one person or there are multiple winning tickets for an annuity prize.

19. WHAT HAPPENS IF MORE THAN ONE SELECTION WINS THE TOP OR SECOND PRIZE ON A DRAW?

The annuity option won’t be available to multiple winners. Instead, the winning selections equally share the cash prize, $7 million for the top prize category and $500,000 for the second prize category. For example, if there are two winning selections in the top category, each will be entitled to $3.5 million. If there are two winning selections in the second category, each will be entitled to $250,000.

20. HOW LONG DO WINNERS IN THE TOP TWO CATEGORIES HAVE TO DECIDE IF THEY WANT TO TAKE THE ANNUITY OR SINGLE PAYMENT OPTIONS?

Claimants will have 60 days from the time they present their prize claim to decide whether to choose the annuity or single payment option. We encourage those claimants to seek independent financial advice to help make that decision. DAILY GRAND winners have one year from the draw date to claim their prize.

21. HOW ARE DAILY GRAND DRAWS CONDUCTED?

DAILY GRAND draws are held every Monday and Thursday and are conducted using Random Number Generator (RNG) technology that has been independently tested and certified by an internationally recognized and accredited tester.

22. HOW DOES THE RANDOM NUMBER GENERATOR METHOD WORK?

The ILC RNG system uses a proprietary algorithm to generate random numbers. The RNG used is independently tested and certified for its effectiveness in generating random results and its integrity. A number of checks and balances are performed to ensure draw security and are witnessed by external auditors (Grant Thornton LLP).  An additional external auditor performs a parallel draw from a separate geographical location (Deloitte).

23. HOW SECURE ARE RNG DRAWS?

Gaming Laboratories International, LLC (GLI) reviewed and tested the Random Number Generation (RNG) software that is used to conduct the RNG components of the LOTTO 6/49, LOTTO MAX and DAILY GRAND games and certifies that the RNG software exhibits random behavior and is suitable for the application of the lottery draws stated.

A number of checks and balances are performed to ensure draw security and are witnessed (Grant Thornton LLP) and verified (Deloitte), by two external auditors, located in two separate geographical locations.

24. WHO IS THE INDEPENDENT CERTIFIER FOR THE RNG TECHNOLOGY?

Gaming Laboratories International, LLC (GLI) reviewed and tested the RNG software that is used to conduct components of LOTTO 6/49, LOTTO MAX and DAILY GRAND draws. GLI certifies that the RNG software exhibits random behavior.

25. ARE YOU ABLE TO WATCH RNG DRAWS? ARE THEY AVAILABLE ON THE WEBSITE?

Animated videos depicting the draw results for LOTTO MAX, LOTTO 6/49 and DAILY GRAND are available to watch on OLG.ca after the draw takes place.

26. WHY AREN’T THE ENCORE NUMBERS INCLUDED AT THE END OF THE NEW ANIMATED DRAW VIDEOS?

These new videos are in a different format than the previous draw videos. In the past OLG would add the ENCORE draw results to the video once received from ILC. With this new format, we are unable to edit the video without having the ENCORE results appear out of place. Customers can still watch ENCORE draw videos and see ENCORE results by visiting the ENCORE page of OLG.ca.
