TORONTO, ON – Pragnesh (Peter) Saija of Brampton is celebrating after winning the DAILY GRAND jackpot from the February 6, 2017 draw. The married father of two opted for a lump-sum payment of $7 million rather than the $1,000-per-day-for-life option.
“It was the day before my birthday,” shared Peter while at the OLG Prize Centre in Toronto where he picked up his winnings. “I was on my way home and I thought I would buy myself an early gift – 2 DAILY GRAND tickets. I thought it be nice to win on my birthday.”
When Peter checked his ticket the following day, he was surprised to learn he won the top prize. “I didn’t expect it. I thought, ‘Maybe I’ll win a few hundred dollars or a Free Play, but I didn’t think I would win this much! I checked the winning numbers on OLG.ca and they looked very familiar to me. One by one, they all lined up. Every single number! From that point on, I had a hard time concentrating on anything other than my ‘Big Win.’”
Later that day, Peter shared the good news with his wife. “I waited until our two kids were in bed. I said, ‘I have a surprise for you but please don’t scream. I won $1,000-a-day-for-life with DAILY GRAND.’ She didn’t believe me but when I showed her the ticket and the numbers, it all became very real. We hugged and cried and made plans to come to the OLG Prize Centre.”
Special plans are already underway for Peter’s windfall. “I am thrilled to be buying our first family home. Our dream home will have a swimming pool, home theatre and five bedrooms. I can also see two new vehicles parked in the driveway of our beautiful home. This win means an even brighter future for our children. They can study wherever they want, whatever they choose, knowing that they will be well taken care of for the rest of their lives. This prize is the absolute best birthday gift I could image,” concluded Peter.
The winning ticket was purchased at Ultramar on Finch Avenue in Toronto.
