Toronto, ON – Terri Shewfelt of Dundas is planning on a mortgage-free future after winning $1 million with MAXMILLIONS in the December 1, 2017 LOTTO MAX draw. Terri also won $20 for matching three of seven numbers plus the bonus number bringing her total winnings to $1,000,020.
“I was out for a bike ride when I stopped to purchase my husband a newspaper. I picked up a LOTTO MAX ticket as well,” explained Terri, while at the OLG Prize Centre in Toronto to pick up her winnings. “I’ve been playing the same numbers for the past 20 years!”
After the draw, Terri checked her ticket on the self-checker, and while she saw the words ‘Big Winner’ she thought she only won $1,000. “After I was finished providing my information to OLG over the phone, the retailer hung up and printed the validation slip. I heard her gasp where she saw my prize amount! When she passed me the slip, I started screaming and crying! I was very emotional.”
Terri, a 54-year-old married mother of two, called her family to share the good news. “They were all in disbelief – but so, so happy!”
Plans are well underway for her winnings. “I plan on helping pay my children’s student loans and paying off our mortgage and car loan,” she shared. “I also like to buy season tickets for the Hamilton Tiger Cats and travel to some place warm,” she smiled.
“This has all been so surreal. It feels incredible. I’ve always joked with my co-workers not to bother playing the lottery because I already purchased the winner – and this time I really had it!” she concluded.
The winning ticket was purchased at Metro on Governor’s Road in Dundas.
